Waste Elimination – Cumulative Avoided Cost
Cumulative Avoided Cost from Waste Elimination Activities
(USD in millions)
Interface began its journey to sustainability by focusing on the elimination of waste. At Interface, we define waste as anything that does not provide value to the customer. This includes traditional forms of waste such as off-quality and scrap, as well as nontraditional forms of waste such as overuse of materials, inventory losses, etc.
The cumulative avoided costs from waste elimination activities since 1995 are calculated to be over $433 million.

Safety
Safety Performance at Carpet Manufacturing Facilities
(frequency rate of incidents per 200,000 hours worked)
The safety and well-being of each associate is a priority at Interface. We recognize that the prevention of accidents is directly related to quality safety education and awareness, therefore, each operating location has developed a unique program for operating safely that includes comprehensive training and metrics. As a result, all of our employees are educated on proper work procedures and are expected to work safely and maintain a safe working environment. Effective safety programs not only protect associates at work, but they also provide guidelines that can be of use at home.
This philosophy has enabled Interface to reduce the frequency of injuries by 63% since 1999.
