Sustainability In Action

In recent years, many companies have developed green stories or green initiatives, and we applaud this growing momentum. For Interface, however, “green” is just the beginning. Ours is a long term commitment to sustainability, a systems-based perspective that fundamentally changed our company. It touches operations and manufacturing, it guides senior management and our associates’ decision-making, and it influences our relationships with customers, suppliers and the entire web of commerce in which we conduct business. Sustainability is part of Interface’s DNA.

We are passionate and dedicated to sustainability, but it is not an easy journey. Every Interface associate contributes to sustainability in the course of their work and we have a dedicated team focused solely on driving, sustaining and measuring our progress.

Still, the progress we have made shows that sustainability is not impossible — for Interface or any organization willing to start the journey. Ours is a journey that began in educating ourselves, and our own commitment to sustainability includes teaching other organizations the lessons we have learned. This section shows the specific ways in which Interface companies have embraced sustainability and are living our Mission Zero™ promise — it shows sustainability in action. The information is thorough and, at times, technical, but demonstrates the progress that can be made. Though your journey, like ours, will be unique in many ways depending on your starting point, the nature of your business and the pace of change you can accommodate, the examples detailed on these pages apply to a wide range of organizations. More important than the ways in which we are different, however, is what we have in common: a desire to learn and change and improve the world we share.
