Interface’s culture is defined by employees galvanized around a shared vision of sustainability. In 1994, Interface adopted a bold new vision for the company, pledging to become a sustainable business (learn more in the Interface Story section) and started a now 20 year Mission to achieve it, one we now call Mission Zero (TM). This Mission transformed our company and has inspired our 3,500 global associates. Our associates tell us they feel connected to a "higher purpose" because of Mission Zero and they are working to change our business and their local communities. Recently we visited our manufacturing locations around the world to document the inspiring stories of associates taking our mission to heart and sharing their passion with their colleagues, their families and the local community. Training and Development

Interface is dedicated to encouraging our associates’ growth and professional development. We recognize that continuous learning is essential to the success of our people.

In addition to job-related training and skills development, we provide leadership development and team building education. We encourage our employees to expand their understanding and knowledge around sustainability through internally designed courses and development programs as well as in collaboration organizations like the The Natural Step and Biomimicry 3.8.

Strengths-Based Culture

Interface believes that associates who are encouraged to take full advantage of their inherent strengths will be more satisfied, more engaged and more productive in their work. We have adopted the Gallup® Strengths-Based Organization model to identify and develop the strengths of individuals across all levels of the business. Employees are encouraged to complete the Gallup Strengths Finder to identify their talents. The results give managers, Certified Strengths Coaches and the associate a starting point and common language from which to build a plan to develop talents into true strengths.

Volunteerism and Philanthropy

Interface has a long history of volunteerism and philanthropy. Our regional businesses work with local organizations, spending countless hours restoring the communities where we live and work.

For almost a decade, our team in the Americas has integrated community-service into their annual sales meeting through Legacy Projects. Working with local organizations, our sales, marketing and management associates spend hours giving back to the community. Past projects have included installing carpet at shelters and schools, building homes for families in need, and environmental service projects including cleaning up natural areas.

Globally, Interface partners with the United States Green Building Council for Green Apple Day of Service – a day dedicated to projects that give parents, teachers, students, and companies the opportunity to transform schools into healthy, safe and productive learning places.
